This is a question we are frequently asked.  Brother Ignatius Perkins, O.P., Executive Director of The Dominican Friars Health Care Ministry of New York, answers this question in his article:  Sanctuaries of Compassion:  The Idea of Care in the Dominican Tradition.  As Brother Ignatius explains, compassionate care for the sick is at the heart of the Dominican Order.  Many of the great Dominican Saints like Catherine of Siena, Martin de Porres, and Rose of Lima spent their life caring for the sick.  (Read article...)
