Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne
Discerning a Religious Vocation
When a woman is discerning a religious vocation in the world today, she must ask herself serious questions. What is it I am willing to give my life to? What is it God is asking me to give my life to? Have I prepared myself to be able to follow my vocation by growing in virtue and in knowledge and love of God? These are questions many in the world do not answer or do not even ponder. Yet, to answer them, is to live life to the fullest. It is a paradox few know: to give away your life to have it more fully. In an age where women are encouraged to “take back their lives” in ways that are often destructive, are you willing to give yours away? To give your life to Christ, to be bound in love to Him Who is Love itself? If you think you may be called to religious life, please contact me by phone or email and I will be more than happy to assist you in any way I am able and to answer questions you may have and share with you what it means to be a Dominican Sister of Hawthorne. In our small community we witness to the sanctity of life in an age of euthanasia. We have given our lives in consecration to Christ and have committed our lives to this witness. It is a totality our foundress knew: “it requires the sacrifice of your life...that is why Christ asked it and blesses with unending reward the simple choice.” May God bless you in your discernment process. In Christ, Sister Catherine Marie, O.P.
