It is with joy that we announce that Mother Mary Alphonsa's (Rose Hawthorne) cause has advanced from Servant of God to Venerable Servant of God by the Congregation of Saints in Rome. At this point miracles will begin to be examined. Please rejoice with us! It is our hope that the heroic and holy life of our foundress will be a source of inspiration to more people.

First read about her story in Voyage comics as a former atheist who love Nathaniel Hawthorne I was completely astonished to read about her and also saddened that history class in the US unfortunately doesn't even try to figure out a way to factor in religious aspects into American history and literary figures it's like they conveniently cancel it out while missing on great Heroes of Faith that could be such a positive influence on teenagers I only wonder what would happened to me growing up if my teacher was honest about Nathaniel Hawthorne faith upbringing and about his daughter conversion. It may have also helped my anger at losing two people that I love to cancer had I known about Rose Hawthorne A friend told me about Rose 15 years ago while I was getting treatment for cancer. I had not heard of her before then. Little snippets of her life keep passing my way, and I am very happy to hear that her cause for sainthood has advanced.
